Who we are
ABOUT US
A small hobby shop in Mountain City, Tennessee, built around the stuff we love: drones, remote control vehicles and the electronics that make them go.
We're hobbyists
first.
Mountain City Drones started with a simple idea: people around here shouldn't have to order blind from a website and hope it's the right thing. You should be able to walk in, ask a question, hold the controller, and get an honest answer from somebody who's flown it.
So that's what we do. We stock a tight selection of drones, a few RC cars and trucks, and the hobby electronics that keep them running — batteries, props, motors, chargers and the small parts that always seem to break at the worst time.
We're not trying to be the biggest catalog on the internet. We'd rather be the shop that gets you flying and keeps you flying.
What we believe
A few simple rules we run the shop by.
Honest over upsell
If the less expensive model does what you need, we'll tell you. A happy pilot comes back; a bad first purchase doesn't.
Plain English
We can go deep on stacks, ESCs and KV ratings — but only if you want to. Otherwise we'll keep it simple.
Fly responsibly
Good hobbyists respect airspace, property and neighbors. We'll happily talk through flying smart and safe.
Local first
We live here too. Johnson County and the Tri-Cities are our customers, our flying spots and our neighbors.
The place
Mountain views.
Mountain flying.
Big sky country
Open fields, ridgelines and fall color — hard to beat for aerial photography.
Trails and gravel
Plenty of rough ground around here for a crawler or a basher to chew on.
Room to learn
Space to practice without a crowd. Perfect for new pilots finding their thumbs.
A community
Come talk gear. Half the fun of this hobby is swapping notes with other people doing it.
Come say hey
Questions about a drone, an RC truck or a part you need? We're happy to help, whether you buy today or not.
